Job summary

Highlands Behavioral Health System in Littleton, CO seeks an Intake Clinician to provide psychiatric assessments, crisis intervention, and referrals. You will work with Admissions, Business Office and Nursing Services to coordinate hospital admissions and ensure optimal patient care.

The role requires a Master's degree in psychology, social work or counseling and experience with psychiatric patients of all ages is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests for psychiatric assistance by telephone or in person.

  • Maintain daily log of intake calls and assessments.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Promote a positive working environment and guest relations.
  • Comply with CCR 27-65 regulations and safety measures.
  • Respond to telephone and walk-in inquiries for assistance.

Responsibilities

Highlands Behavioral Health System is an 86 bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Littleton, CO. Highlands features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs.

The Intake Clinician responds to all persons requesting assistance either by telephone or in person, and provides psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention and referrals to Hospital staff and services to outside sources, based on the nature of the problem(s) and financial resources. Admissions to the Hospital are facilitated through coordinated efforts with the Business Office, Utilization Review and the Department of Nursing Services.

  1. Assesses each inquiry to determine clinical need of caller and/or patient, and makes referral to appropriate level of care.
  2. Maintains daily log of all incoming and pending Intake calls and Assessments.
  3. Maintains a good working relationship and ongoing communication with referral sources.
  4. Completes the admission of patients.
  5. Collaborates with hospital personnel and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
  6. Promotes a positive working environment and guest relations.
  7. Completes procedures as stipulated in CCR 27-65 regulations as required.
  8. Promotes safety by attending mandatory inservices and complies with all safety measures initiated by the facility
  9. Responds to telephone and/or walk-in requests for psychiatric assistance.

Shift Hours: Tuesday - Saturday: 8am - 4:30pm

Shift Differential Pay: Up to $6.00/hour

$1 added to base rate of pay if bilingual (must pass a language assessment; eligible to take assessment after completing first 30 days)

  • Masters Degree in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling.
  • Prefer previous experience with psychiatric patients of all ages.
