Job summary

Family & Children Services of Ithaca is seeking multiple full-time therapists to perform comprehensive initial assessments and provide consultation to help clients access appropriate mental health care. Intake clinicians split time between evaluation/consultation and providing evidenced-based therapy across the lifespan in an outpatient setting, with supervision and team support.

Qualifications

• Master’s or doctorate degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy.
• Ability to obtain independent clinical license to practice in NY within three years of hire.
• Experience in differential diagnostic assessment and evidenced-based treatment of mental health conditions.
• Knowledge of evidence-based clinical and non-clinical resources for client mental health.
• Ability to work from a culturally responsive lens, considering client identity in assessment and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct biopsychosocial and diagnostic assessments to identify client needs and insurance medical necessity.
• Assist clients in connecting to services inside and outside the agency.
• Develop treatment plans collaboratively to manage progress and episode ends.
• Assess risk and develop safety plans to mitigate risk.
• Provide individual, couples, and family therapy using evidence-based, client-centered approaches.
• Adhere to OMH/agency documentation standards and timelines.
• Engage in ongoing professional growth through supervision and CEU.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver coordinated care.
