Job description

Intake/PRN Advanced Practice Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)

Our mission is to solve the opioid epidemic and repair our communities by providing addiction treatment that works. As an Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP), you have the unique ability to demonstrate our care values to our patients by loving unconditionally, forgiving habitually, and demonstrating mercy.

We are looking for an APP interested in a part-time or PRN role to assist in new patient intakes via telemedicine and coverage for other Cedar Recovery providers as needed. In this role, you will conduct the intake visit via telemedicine, initiate buprenorphine and methadone inductions, create individualized medical plans, and offer the necessary medical support for their recovery. This position reports to the Medical Director. This position should work closely with medical and admin staff to provide comprehensive clinical care to patients. This position may also be asked to see maintenance patients for other providers as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive Patient Assessment : Conduct thorough evaluations, including substance use history, medical/psychiatric history, physical exams, and necessary lab tests. Evaluate for co-occurring mental health disorders.

  • Diagnosis and Treatment Planning : Provide diagnoses and formulate differential diagnoses. Develop individualized treatment plans with the patient and team, including MAT, counseling, and support.

  • Medication Management : Order and manage MAT. Determine and adjust dosages, monitor effectiveness and side effects, and educate patients on medication.

  • Coordination of Care : Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team. Make referrals for specialized care and communicate with other providers.

  • Documentation and Compliance : Maintain accurate documentation. Ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, DEA) and agency policies.

  • Continuous Quality Improvement : Stay current with best practices. Participate in quality assurance and contribute to program development.

  • Patient Education and Support : Educate patients and families. Offer support and address stigma.

  • Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with an unrestricted license in Tennessee and/or Virginia.

  • DEA License and DEA X-Waiver in good standing

  • No reportable items to the National Practitioner Data Bank within the last ten (10) years

  • Active TennCare Number

  • One year of experience in treatment of opioid or other substance use disorders

  • Team Engagement : Actively contribute to an interdisciplinary team, prioritizing patient care.

Job Requirements
  • Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with an unrestricted license in Tennessee and/or Virginia.
  • DEA License and DEA X-Waiver in good standing
  • No reportable items to the National Practitioner Data Bank within the last ten (10) years
  • Active TennCare Number
