Qualifications

• 2+ years of medical billing experience preferred.
• Experience using payer portals and EMR/EHR systems.
• Strong documentation and organizational abilities.
• Ability to analyze insurance plan types and requirements.
• Excellent communication with payers, providers, and patients.

Responsibilities

• Verify coverage for office visits and ensure active, in-network status.
• Contact patients with inactive or out-of-network coverage.
• Reach out to insurers to confirm coverage and benefits details.
• Manage assigned portion of the schedule and appointments.
• Identify and communicate insurance trends to the team.
• Learn network status across plans and advise other departments.
• Check if referrals are required and on file.
• Stay updated on regulations, payer policies, and coding guidelines.
• Collaborate with billing, front desk, scheduling, and clinical teams.

Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycle processes, reduce outstanding balances, and improve overall cash flow. Responsibilities

• Use software and payer portals to confirm coverage is active and insurance details on file are correct
• Contact patients with inactive or out of network insurance
• Contact insurance companies via phone and portal chat to confirm coverage and benefit details
• Manage assigned portion of the schedule and all appointments therein
• Notice and communicate about insurance trends
• Learn the network status with different insurance plans and be a resource to other departments regarding network status
• Evaluate if the insurance plan requires a referral and confirm referrals are on file.
• Stay updated on industry regulations, payer policies, and coding guidelines to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursement opportunities.
• Collaborate with billing staff, front desk staff, scheduling department and members of the clinical team
• Other responsibilities as assigned

• Strong knowledge of medical billing processes and collection strategies within a healthcare setting.
