Job summary

Graham Healthcare Group is seeking an Insurance Verification & Authorization Coordinator to ensure benefit information, authorization, and patient liability are secured before care. You will work with multiple departments to update funding sources in the EMR (Homecare Homebase).

You will verify eligibility, obtain initial and ongoing authorizations, and communicate with insurers, patients, and clinics. Proficiency in payer portals and strong attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or combination of experience and business courses preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in insurance verification, authorization, or medical billing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance and authorization requirements.
• Knowledge of insurance websites and HomeCare Homebase preferred.
• Conscientious with attention to detail and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Obtain detailed and accurate benefit information using payer portals, phone, or fax for all insurance companies.
• Validate and document patient details in the EMR.
• Reduce write-offs by documenting deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-pocket maximums.
• Monitor task flow related to insurance issues, including eligibility verification and authorizations.
• Review entitlement verification reports daily and research questionable answers.
• Review issues related to funding source updates daily.
• Reverify Medicaid patients and insurance at set intervals to monitor changes.
• Contact patients, hospitals, or physician offices for information or clarification.
• Assist scheduling with funding source problems related to scheduling visits.
• Support the billing department with verification discrepancies.
• Maintain knowledge of payer portals and company core values.
