Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist for MRI & CT Diagnostics. Under supervision, verify benefits, confirm deductibles, co-pays, and patient responsibility, and obtain necessary referrals.

You will communicate with carriers, scheduling, and front desk, ensure accurate demographic and physician information, and document all interactions in the RIS for billing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Healthcare experience preferred; medical terminology courses helpful.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage a variable workload.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage and benefits for all scheduled patients 24-48 hours in advance.
• Confirm billing address and contact person for carriers when appropriate.
• Ensure patient demographics and physician information are accurate.
• Obtain authorizations for services from insurers when required.
• Handle calls with patients and insurers; notify about co-pays and deductibles.
• Communicate with Scheduling and front desk about authorizations and special cases.
• Notate all communications in the patient RIS and share with billing.
• Gather clinical records to facilitate authorization.
