Insurance Underwriter - Specialty Program (Excess & Surplus Commercial Lines)

Industry leader seeks an experienced Underwriter to evaluate risk, select, and price submissions for the Specialty Program focusing on Excess & Surplus Commercial Lines, including Personal Grooming Services such as Barber Shops, Hair Tanning, Nail Salons, Massage Parlors, etc.

Position Details:

  • Remote work from home is possible.
  • Underwrite individual risk selection for Barber Shop & Salon businesses.
  • Serve as a resource to subordinate underwriting levels, other departments, and agents.
  • Communicate underwriting appetite and strategies to agents.
  • Develop new agency relationships and maintain existing ones.
  • Assist management with form development and enhancement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of underwriting experience in Excess, Umbrella, Surplus Lines, or Commercial Insurance.
  • Professional designations such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or Associate in Commercial Underwriting are preferred.
