Overview

• The practice represents global, national, and regional insurance companies, private equity sponsors, and healthcare systems on sophisticated regulatory and transactional matters across the insurance industry.
• The team provides strategic guidance on the full spectrum of insurance regulatory issues, encompassing compliance, corporate transactions, and business initiatives.
• Associates provide legal services related to insurance regulatory filings and approvals, insurance holding company compliance, insurer formation and licensure, market entry into new jurisdictions, and complex commercial and corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• The role involves counseling clients on developing compliance programs, internal controls, risk mitigation strategies, and day-to-day regulatory compliance, alongside analyzing state insurance laws for financial reporting and operational compliance.
• Associates gain exposure to regulatory interactions, such as responding to insurance department inquiries, assisting with market conduct and financial examinations, and supporting clients in administrative proceedings.
• The position requires a working knowledge of state and federal insurance laws, rules, and regulations.
• Candidates must have strong technical drafting skills and experience with drafting agreements, opinion letters, regulatory filings, policies, procedures, and other corporate documents.
• Experience working with regulatory agencies having authority over the business of insurance, and/or for insurance companies or other enterprises involved in the insurance business, is required.
• The role offers increased client contact and the opportunity to perform independently with less supervision from senior attorneys.
