Job summary

Retina Consultants of Texas is seeking an Insurance Verification Coordinator to join our San Antonio team. The role focuses on verifying patient insurance information, resolving issues to ensure a clean billing process, and following up on accounts requiring evaluation.

Strong phone communication is essential to obtain verbal verification. Hours align with Eligibility and Benefits Department, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with weekly schedules based on provider clinics and surgeries.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency with MS Office and EMR systems.
• Strong phone communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility for patients and upcoming appointments.
• Review deductibles and copays and enter data into billing system.
• Assist front office with verification questions.
• Respond to inquiries from patients, staff and insurers.
• Collaborate with reception to ensure clean billing.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and protect confidentiality.
