Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking a Senior Trial Attorney for our in-house Staff Legal team in Alabama, preferably Birmingham. The attorney will handle high-exposure General Liability and Commercial Auto cases, with responsibilities from investigation to post-trial activities, including remote team coordination.

Requires a JD with 7+ years in litigation, Alabama Bar admission, and strong trial/negotiation skills. Offers a hybrid schedule, incentive plan, and a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and 7 or more years of experience in the Litigation area.
• Member of the Bar in good standing in Alabama.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
• Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance defense litigation legal environment.
• First chair Jury Trial experience.

Responsibilities

• Representing commercial insureds in high complexity, high exposure General Liability and Commercial Auto cases.
• Prepare and try cases, handle pre-trial discovery, hearings, and trials.
• Conduct legal research and file pleadings; advise on investigations and strategy.
• Work with remote teams using video conferencing and collaborative systems.
