Gates, Gonter, Guy, Proudfoot & Muench LLP in Irvine, CA is seeking an associate with strong trial advocacy to join our civil defense litigation practice. The role involves handling general liability cases, including commercial and umbrella policies, and demanding deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, including discovery, depositions, court appearances, and trial preparation. New admittees are welcome; salary is based on experience.

Formación

• Active California bar license.
• Strong litigation skills including discovery and depositions.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently under supervision of a partner.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare responsive pleadings and trial materials.
• Propound and respond to discovery requests.
• Review medical records and prepare summaries.
• Take depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, and experts.
• Attend court hearings and argue motions.
• Assist with trial preparation and co-counsel at trial.
• Maintain case status reports for carriers and clients.

Job Description

LITIGATION ATTORNEY

We are seeking an associate for our litigation practice group to handle general liability cases including, commercial, and umbrella policies, involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, HOA, in a fast-paced and highly demanding atmosphere.
Job duties include:

• Handling cases from preparing responsive pleadings to trial
• Propounding and responding to discovery,
• Medical record review/summaries,
• Conducting depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, and experts,
• Attend court hearings,
• Prepare motions/oppositions,
• Prepare case status reports to carriers
• Trial preparation
• Co-Counsel at Trial
• Qualifications:
• Prior insurance defense experience is preferred but not required.
• Must be driven, self-starter, and able to independently manage a caseload.
• An ideal candidate would have experience with strong litigation skills, including discovery, conducting depositions, court appearances, and trial preparation background.
• New admittees are also encouraged to apply and can be a great fit for the right candidate
• Must be able to work well under strict deadlines
• Ability to multitask effectively
• Reliable and able to work a caseload independently under the supervision of a firm partner
• We are willing to train the right individual.
• Excellent oral advocacy and written communication skills are a must.
