Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company in Morristown, NJ is seeking a Counsel to advance insurance defense litigation from inception through trial and appeal. You will handle a caseload with the support of a national legal organization and deliver strong results for insured clients.

You will develop litigation strategies, draft pleadings, attend court events, and collaborate with claim partners and clients to improve outcomes. This role offers professional development and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
• 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active license to practice law in the required state(s).
• Willingness and ability to travel to hearings, trials and depositions.
• Strong communication and persuasive writing skills.
• Ability to manage cases from inception through trial and appeal.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct legal research and produce persuasive writing and presentation materials.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners.
• Build and maintain client and business partner relationships.
• Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients.
• Utilize technology and case management systems effectively.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
