Job summary

Progressive is seeking an insurance defense attorney to join our Bodily Injury litigation team. You will provide legal representation to Progressive insureds and the company in all stages of civil litigation, handling cases from filing to verdict while coordinating with claims partners.

This is a hybrid position with occasional travel to an office for meetings and training. Minimum qualifications include a JD or LLM and Connecticut bar admission, with at least two years of general or auto

Qualifications

• J.D. or LL.M. with at least 2 years general/auto litigation experience.
• Licensed to practice in Connecticut.

Responsibilities

• Represent Progressive insureds and the company in all stages of bodily injury litigation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, statements, and trial briefs; negotiate settlements.
• Prepare litigation reports with claims partners and leverage defenses.
• Analyze discovery, depositions, medical records, and assess claim risk.

As aninsurance defense attorneywithin our Bodily Injury litigation team, you’ll be a part of our motor vehicle insurance defense litigation team, providing legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or to the Progressive Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation. Handling cases from beginning to end, you’ll also prepare legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs and be involved in negotiating settlements. Additionally, you’ll work closely with clients and claims partners to prepare timely reports on litigation, ensuring all appropriate defenses are leveraged to reach positive outcomes. Other tasks will include analyzing written discovery, depositions, medical records and assessing the value of claims to determine risk exposure.

This is a hybrid position with occasional travel to an office for meetings and/or training.

Minimum qualifications

• Juris doctor degree or Master of Laws (LLM) and a minimum of 2 years general/auto litigation experience
• Admitted to practice law in the state of Connecticut

Compensation

• $147,056 - $161,600/year
• Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 40% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
