Job summary

Synectics Inc. in the United States seeks an attorney to manage a caseload of insurance defense and civil litigation from inception through resolution.

You will draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents, and take depositions involving parties, witnesses, and experts. Respondents conduct legal research, appear in state and federal courts, participate in mediations, and assist with trial preparation.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar license in good standing.
• 2–5 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense.
• Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and insurance defense.
• Experience with discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, and/or mediations.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal advocacy skills.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and practically.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working as part of a team.
• Professional, client-focused approach and commitment to high-quality legal work.
• Experience with labor and employment matters involving insurance-related claims is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research, fact investigation, and case analysis.
• Appear in state and federal courts for hearings and other proceedings.
• Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and settlement negotiations.
• Prepare cases for trial and assist with trial strategy and preparation.
• Provide timely and practical case evaluations and legal guidance to clients.
• Communicate regularly with insurance carriers, insureds, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other parties.
• Analyze coverage-related issues and assist with coverage disputes when needed.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date case files.
• Collaborate with attorneys and support staff while independently managing deadlines and priorities.
