Job summary

Venable LLP is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Insurance Coverage practice in New York. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience at a large law firm and a strong interest in policyholder-side insurance work.

Key responsibilities include analyzing insurance policies, representing clients in disputes, and conducting due diligence for corporate transactions. Strong drafting and negotiation skills are required for this role. The salary range for the position is $215,000 to $355,000.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience at a large law firm / insurance practice group, or equivalent in-house experience.
• Experience with insurance coverage matters, including policy analysis and/or litigation.

Responsibilities

Venable LLP's Insurance Coverage practice is seeking a mid-level associate to with a minimum of three years of experience to join the team in New York.

This role focuses on representing policyholders in complex insurance matters, including coverage analysis, litigation, and transactional support. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in a large law firm environment and a demonstrated interest in policyholder-side insurance work.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and provide strategic recommendations on a wide range of insurance policies, including renewals and coverage placements
• Represent policyholders in insurance coverage disputes and litigation
• Conduct insurance due diligence in connection with corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions
• Draft and negotiate insurance and indemnification provisions in purchase and other transactional agreements
• Advise on and review Representations & Warranties insurance policies, including coverage analysis, diligence, and claims-related issues
• Collaborate with corporate and litigation teams to advise clients on risk allocation and coverage strategies

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Admitted to practice in New York and in good standing
• 3-5 years experience at a large law firm / insurance practice group, or equivalent in-house experience
• Experience with insurance coverage matters, including policy analysis and/or litigation
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience with private equity clients

The salary range for associate positions is $215,000 to $355,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of job-related factors including, but not limited to, years of related experience, level of education, skills, credentials and certifications, responsibilities and performance.
