The role involves representing domestic and international insurers in sophisticated coverage disputes across commercial claims, professional liability, financial lines, and specialty matters.

Ideal candidates will have 2–6 years of insurance coverage litigation experience, strong writing and advocacy skills, and be admitted to the Illinois bar

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of insurance coverage litigation experience at a sophisticated law firm.
• Experience representing insurance carriers in complex coverage disputes.
• Experience analyzing and advising on a wide range of policies (CGI, excess/umbrella, professional liability, D&O, E&O, cyber, financial lines, specialty).
• Experience drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, declaratory judgment actions, motions, and appellate briefs.
• Experience handling all phases of litigation including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, mediations, and trial prep.
• Experience appearing in state and federal courts.
• Strong legal writing, analytical, advocacy, and client counseling skills.
• Ability to independently manage sophisticated matters with significant client interaction.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required.
• Illinois bar admission required or eligible

A nationally recognized AmLaw 100 firm is seeking an Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney to join its Chicago office.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in representing domestic and international insurers in sophisticated insurance coverage disputes involving complex commercial claims, professional liability, financial lines, and specialty insurance matters.

Ideal Background

• 2–6 years of insurance coverage litigation experience gained at a sophisticated law firm
• Experience representing insurance carriers in complex coverage disputes and litigation
• Experience analyzing and advising clients on commercial general liability, excess and umbrella, professional liability, directors & officers, errors & omissions, cyber, financial lines, and specialty insurance policies
• Experience drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, declaratory judgment actions, dispositive motions, and appellate briefs
• Experience handling all phases of litigation, including pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and trial preparation
• Experience appearing in state and federal courts
• Strong legal writing, analytical, advocacy, and client counseling skills
• Ability to independently manage sophisticated litigation matters while maintaining significant client interaction
• Excellent academic credentials
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required
• Illinois bar admission required or ability to become admitted
