About the Role

Our client, a dynamic insurance company, is looking for a diligent and knowledgeable Insurance Compliance Officer to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is critical for ensuring that all company operations adhere to the complex web of insurance laws, regulations, and industry best practices. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs, conducting internal audits, and advising management on regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of insurance legislation, exceptional attention to detail, and robust analytical skills. This is a vital position that supports the integrity and ethical conduct of the business in the heart of the Western Cape wine region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's compliance program to ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations.
• Monitor changes in insurance legislation and regulatory requirements, assessing their impact on the business.
• Conduct regular internal audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and risks.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees across various departments.
• Investigate potential compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required by governing bodies.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors.
• Maintain and update compliance policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Advise senior management on compliance matters and emerging risks.
• Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organization.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in insurance compliance, risk management, or a related legal/regulatory role.
• In-depth knowledge of South African insurance legislation (e.g., FAIS Act, Long-Term Insurance Act, Short-Term Insurance Act).
• Experience with compliance monitoring, auditing, and reporting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex regulations clearly.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and compliance management software.
• High ethical standards and integrity.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Reside in or be willing to work remotely from Paarl, Western Cape.
