Summary
The Insurance Representative is a sales position that is also service-centric. Responsible for selling insurance products directly to interested members as well as providing information and service support to both internal and external constituents regarding insurance products for members. Provides support to other departments within the credit union and delivers consistent performance standards and manages priorities that are responsive to member relationships, sales and retention production targets, and service goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Acts as both the internal and external point-of-contact in addressing questions and concerns regarding retail insurance products, coverage's/exclusions policy information, benefit and claim information
- Develops client base over the long term by responding to credit union member inquiries for their retail insurance needs, primarily home, auto, small business, and life insurance.
- Approaches potential clients by effectively utilizing email, phone, virtual meetings, and, occasionally, in person contact.
- Determines clients' particular needs and financial situations by scheduling fact-finding appointments, ascertaining long-term goals, and then presenting the right insurance solutions to address the individual's needs.
- Acts as primary staff and member contact in addressing questions and concerns regarding retail insurance products, coverage's/exclusions policy information.
- Develops a coordinated protection plan by calculating and quoting rates, with multiple carriers, to address client needs and accomplish long-term protection strategy.
- Obtains underwriting approval by completing application for coverage.
- Completes coverage by delivering policy and planning future follow-up visits and evaluations of needs.
- Provides continuing service by processing policy changes and assisting members and clients with their ongoing insurance needs.
- Provide guidance related to the claims process claims for insurance product portfolio.
- Provides information necessary to make sound product recommendations (i.e., marketing, customer service and administrative support affecting members/brokers/vendors from initial submission through policy issuance, renewals and cancellations).
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of entire credit union protection portfolio in order to portray confidence and credibility to internal and external constituents.
- Become a partner to other credit union areas of service.
- Demonstrates behaviors that are consistent with the credit union/CUSO values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
- 7 years of insurance sales and service experience.
- Financial institution experience is preferred.
- Licensed Agent - Property, Casualty, Life, and Health in Missouri or Kansas required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of insurance products and services in a sales role.
- Claims processing knowledge.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to project a high degree of professionalism and positive image of themselves and the Credit Union/CUSO.
