Job description

Insulation Leadman:

Must be able to apply, remove, and repair insulating material to exposed surfaces or structures, such as air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings to help control noise and maintain temperatures. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Read blueprints and select required insulation material.
2. Work at heights with no fear.
3. Apply adhesives or attach metal fasteners to insulation material.
4. Determine the amounts and select the required insulation material (sheet, tubular, or roll), such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, and urethane based on heat retention, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
5. Measure and cut insulation material to specified sizes and shapes using tools like a handsaw, knife, or scissors.
6. Fit, wrap, or attach insulation around or to structures according to blueprint specifications.
7. Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure it, using staple guns, trowels, paintbrushes, or caulking guns.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
