Job summary

CB&I is seeking an Insulation Technician in Plainfield, IL. This role is responsible for maintenance of industrial equipment, installation of proprietary insulation systems on storage tanks, and on-site setup/breakdown at domestic and international sites.

Requires traveling up to 50% and a safety-first mindset. Candidates should have 2+ years in construction, mechanical or insulation roles, a high school diploma, and basic Microsoft Office skills.

Overview

• The Insulation Technician is an individual contributor position familiar with the craft discipline and is recognized for possessing a mechanical aptitude and safe work ethic within our CB&I Storage Solutions Insulation Group. The role is responsible for maintaining industrial/construction equipment, as well as set up and operation of machinery in the field used to insulate various CB&I Storage Tanks both domestically and internationally while observing and complying with all CB&I safety procedures. Willingness to learn and work independently with minimal supervision. The role reports to the Insulation Manager.

Responsibilities

• Basic equipment maintenance and electrical troubleshooting.
• Mechanical aptitude - experience working on a variety of motors, pumps or compressors
• Polyurethane foam and or paint spraying.
• Equipment shipments, set-up, operation and breakdown on site.
• Installation of Proprietary Insulation Systems on Storage Tanks.
• Follow and promote safety first work ethic
• Coordinate with other roles and functions on project teams HSES, Construction Managers, Clients.
• Forecast how long it will take to do a task - commit to definitive deadlines.
• Generate improvement ideas for tools and workflow associated to the role.
• Ability to obtain a TWIC card
• Ability to travel 50%

Local Requirements

Techninican will be located in Plainfield, IL and initally suport the Cryogenics Test Lab

The role requires the following:

• Use of computer software, including Microsoft Excel
• Preparation of test samples
• Mounting samples in test equipment
• Operation of test equipment
• Acquisition and preparation of test data in spreadsheets
• Observe laboratory safety procedures including use of appropriate personal protective equipment

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant working experience construction, mechanical or insulation type role or technical school.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic computer knowledge - Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Field crew experience- supervisory a plus
• Excellent time management
