Job summary

Brown and Root is seeking a Leadman Insulator to lead a crew of insulation craftsmen on refinery, petrochemical, LNG, and power generation projects. You will supervise installation, maintenance, and removal of thermal and acoustic insulation, ensuring work meets project specs and safety standards.

The role requires reading drawings, coordinating materials, mentoring juniors, and communicating progress to supervision. Extensive field experience and OSHA/NCCER credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of industrial insulation materials, systems, and installation methods.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and insulation standards.
• Leadership and crew coordination skills required.
• Experience in refinery, LNG, petrochemical, or industrial maintenance.
• OSHA 10/30 or NCCER certified preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and coordinate daily activities of insulation crews on assigned projects.
• Plan and organize work assignments to ensure efficient utilization of manpower, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Read and interpret isometric drawings, blueprints, specifications, insulation schedules, and work packages.
• Install, remove, repair, and maintain thermal and acoustic insulation systems on piping, vessels, tanks, exchangers, boilers, and related equipment.
• Measure, cut, fit, and install various insulation materials including fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate, perlite, and ceramic fiber.
• Fabricate and install metal jacketing, lagging, flashing, and weatherproofing systems using hand and power tools.
• Coordinate material requirements and verify proper material usage in accordance with project specifications.
• Conduct quality inspections to ensure workmanship meets company and client standards.
• Monitor crew productivity and ensure work is completed according to project schedules.
• Train, mentor, and assist insulators in proper installation techniques, safety practices, and quality requirements.
• Participate in pre-job planning, toolbox meetings, and safety discussions.
• Communicate project progress, manpower needs, and work issues to supervisors.
• Maintain accurate records of labor, production, and completed work activities.
