Job summary

Meso Scale Diagnostics LLC seeks an assembler for producing high‑value laboratory instruments in a light manufacturing setting. You will perform daily electro‑mechanical assembly, lab testing, documentation, and material handling for sub‑ and final assemblies.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in electronics or mechanical fields.
  • 2+ years electro-mechanical manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with lab equipment, medical devices, or GMP environments preferred.
  • ISO/GMP (or GMP-like) experience preferred.
  • Lab skills such as pipetting and reagents are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, document, and handle materials for sub- and final assemblies.
  • Package assemblies and move production materials.
  • Maintain workmanship and product quality; ensure proper documentation.
  • Report issues affecting quality, timelines, or test data.
  • Collaborate with engineers on experiments or development activities.
  • Assist managers and engineers in improving manufacturing operations and documentation.

Job description

Overview

Responsible for component, sub-assembly and final product assembly and testing of high-value laboratory instruments in a light manufacturing environment. This includes daily production activities, supporting manufacturing operations in product development, documentation of test efforts, computer and software configuration, and hardware troubleshooting at system and component levels.

Responsibilities
  • Perform functions associated with daily electro-mechanical manufacturing operations, with limited supervision. This includes assembly, lab testing, documentation, and material handling related to the production of sub- and final assemblies.
  • Packaging of assemblies and instruments, material handling and movement of production materials.
  • Maintain excellence in workmanship, final product quality, and good documentation practices.
  • Communicate issues, problems, and results that impact product quality, production timelines, and the reliability of test data.
  • Work with engineers in conducting experiments and product development as needed.
  • Assist managers and engineers in developing and improving manufacturing operations and documentation.
  • Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Mechanical disciplines, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of work experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical devices, lab equipment, and/or medical devices.
  • Experience in a regulated ISO/FDA (GMP) environment is preferred.
  • Background in lab skills, pipetting, dispensing chemicals and reagents is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electro-mechanical assembly, troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and/or electrical schematics, with proficient use of measurement tools and digital multimeters for troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret written assembly and test procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled with common manual and powered hand tools and assembly techniques.
  • Understanding of mechanical torque specifications and good workmanship practices.
  • Clear and detail-oriented documentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of ESD standards, requirements, and industrial practices.
  • Experience handling materials such as aluminum, steel, and plastics.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work productively in a flexible manufacturing environment with changing projects, roles, and priorities.
  • Ability to move or lift objects up to 25 pounds.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods. The individual is occasionally required to walk, reach, pull, or bend; use hands and fingers to operate tools; and perform occasional manual crimping of cables. This position may require moving or lifting objects up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Production - light assembly environment.

Compensation Summary

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $52,400 to $76,000. This range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer, including scope and responsibilities, market factors, and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience. Employees may qualify for discretionary or non-discretionary bonuses in addition to base salary.
