- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, engineering, or a closely related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience with scientific laboratory instrumentation in academic or research settings.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time-management skills; able to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots mechanical, electronic, and software issues for scientific instrumentation.
- Applies basic machining and construction skills to build/modify/repair apparatus for teaching and research.
- Safely handles and replaces high-pressure gas cylinders and manages hazardous materials safety.
- Maintains and troubleshoots major analytical instruments (chromatography, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, NMR) ensuring calibration and readiness for teaching/research.
- Supports greenhouse operations and other departmental duties as needed.
