Howard Energy Partners in West Texas (Orla, TX) is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician II to provide technical support to construction and field operations in instrumentation, electrical and analyzer fields.

The role requires troubleshooting, maintenance of control systems, and experience with Allen Bradley PLC software. Travel to remote sites may be required; must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of related experience in design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, pneumatics and communications systems.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley display and control software and PLC equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots problems with equipment. Runs conduit, pulls wire, changes motors, and maintains lighting systems and basic motor controls.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots plant control systems and complex equipment, e.g., generators, heaters, etc.
  • Maintains, modifies and troubleshoots Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to maximize use of control technology and minimize installation and operating costs.
  • Maintains advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame/fire detectors, vibration and temperature monitors).
  • Reads P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings; interprets plant electrical diagrams.

Description

The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician II provides technical support to construction and field operations in the instrumentation, electrical and analyzer fields.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots problems with equipment. Runs conduit, pulls wire, changes motors, and maintains lighting systems and basic motor controls.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots plant control systems and complex equipment, e.g., generators, heaters, etc.
  • Maintains, modifies and troubleshoots Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to maximize use of control technology and minimize installation and operating costs.
  • Maintains advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame/fire detectors, vibration and temperature monitors).
  • Reads P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings; interprets plant electrical diagrams.
  • Updates electrical drawings.
  • Installs, troubleshoots and maintains end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process controls, substation and branch feeders, variable frequency drives, air/fuel controllers, panel boards, etc.
  • Performs preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment (which includes working near energized circuits over 440 volts).
  • Must stay updated on knowledge of plant processes, electrical layout, safety systems and area classifications.
  • May work independently under moderate supervision or with various groups to deal with issues that may arise.
  • Provides training and technical support as required.
  • General upkeep of facilities and equipment including engines/compressors, company vehicle and shop.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline related to the job.
  • Is familiar with AC voltage (120-480) three phase and single phase plus 24 VDC.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Has operating knowledge in the operations and maintenance of sites systems.
  • Must be dependable and reliable, have good organizational skills and good customer service skills.
  • Experienced with writing programs for DCS.
  • Computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications preferred.
  • Familiar with plant processes, electrical layouts, safety systems, and area classifications.
  • Must have a current driver's license and clean driving record.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of related experience in design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, pneumatics and communications systems
  • Has experience with Allen Bradley display and control software and PLC equipment

Certifications:

  • None required

Physical Demands and Hazard for Field Employees:

This position may require occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and will require rigorous physical demands.
