Job summary

Pacific Northern Environmental LLC is seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Technician to join Taurus Power and Controls operations, providing startup testing, field service, and panel fabrication for industrial projects.

The role requires hands-on electrical and control system work, travel to client sites in the Northwest, and the ability to work with teams across divisions for reliable, compliant performance.

Qualifications

• Requires 2–5 years in a similar field
• AAS degree in instrumentation, mechatronics, or industrial electronics
• Understand hazards around electrical circuits
• Strong customer relations and communication skills
• Able to write reports and work with minimal supervision
• Experience with VFDs, PLCs, DC drives, instrumentation, UPS, panels

Responsibilities

• Perform startup and testing on instrumentation, VFDs, emergency lighting inverters, PLCs, and related equipment
• Identify and troubleshoot problems as they arise
• Work independently when required and travel for in-field work
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and after-hours
• Travel to out-of-area jobs up to two weeks; local work primarily in OR, WA, ID

Job Summary

Taurus Power and Controls - a Pacific Northern Environmental LLC Company, is seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Technician who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and has the ability to provide exceptional service to our company, clients, and employees.

Pacific Northern Environmental, LLC consists of six divisions including Advanced Electrical Technologies (AET), Taurus Power and Controls (TPC), Taurus Power Services (TPS) Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS), Pacific Northern Environmental Construction (PNEC), and WasteXpress Environmental (WXE). Together, we specialize in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning, and hazardous waste disposal. PNE LLC is a multi-state organization with operating offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii. In addition, we carry out projects across the United States.

We have expertise in a wide array of systems and industries, whether it’s servicing projects we developed, or systems built by others.

The Controls & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for acceptance and maintenance testing of power distribution equipment and operation of the test equipment needed to perform the job.

Education and Experience Qualifications

• Previous employment involving troubleshooting of industrial devices
• AAS Degree in Instrumentation, mechatronics, or industrial electronics
• Understanding hazards around electrical circuits
• Customer relation and communication skills, report writing, self-starter mentality
• 2-5 years' experience in similar field
• Familiarity and experience working on any of the following equipment:
  • VFD's
  • PLC's
  • DC Drives
  • Instrumentation (Flow sensors/meters, Level sensors/meters, etc.)
  • UPS's, battery systems, lighting inverters
  • Industrial Control Panels

Duties and Responsibilities

The Instrumentation and Controls Technician possessing the education and experience listed above to Learn and perform the following:

Technical Services (in field and shop)

• Ability and knowledge to Preform Start-up and testing services on Instrumentation, VFD's, Emergency Lighting Inverters, PLC's and other industrial control equipment
• Identify problems as they arise and troubleshoot failure in the above-mentioned items
• Ability to work independently when required
• Flexibility in working hours required: work is typically 8am - 5pm during the week but occasionally after hours and weekends is required by our Overtime hours available.
• Have reliable transportation to travel to and from office or a customer's site. Company vehicle provided after 1 year of service_
• Flexibility to travel to out of area jobs for up to a two-week duration. Most of our work is local but occasionally work takes place at a customer's site within Oregon, Washington, or Idaho.

Control Panel Fabrication:

• Dimension and layout of back panels and enclosures
• Mounting of components to back panels and enclosures
• Routing and bundling of wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards
• Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, 1/0 Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, & Instrumentation
• Maintain red line, drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication
• Communicate red line changes to Engineer or Team Leader for revision prior to completion
• Communicates effectively with all team members, leads, builders, engineers and the Project Manager

The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:

• Move about the jobsite as needed.
• Move work related equipment up to 50lbs.
• Remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
• Operate various technological devices, including but not limited to a computer.
• Occasionally ascend/descend ladders and/or stairs.
