Join to apply for the Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - Senior-Level role at Sargent & Lundy

  • This position offers an opportunity to utilize and expand your background in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering.
  • You will collaborate with project teams designing new power plants, modifying existing facilities, and improving plant controls.
  • You will be involved in power distribution designs and preparing specifications for instrumentation and controls equipment procurement.
  • As part of a multi-discipline team, you will coordinate power plant design, prepare engineering calculations, and design electrical control circuits.
  • You will enhance your skills through mentoring, technical sessions, and on-the-job training.
  • Potential travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and verification.
  • Develop your career via peer-learning through S&L’s systems and “Communities of Practice.”

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office work 3 days per week.

Qualifications

Essential Skills And Experience
  • A BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with coursework in control systems.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
  • 7+ years of experience in power plant and heavy industrial control systems.
  • Experience with power or industrial controls.
  • Understanding of instrumentation and controls engineering applications.
  • Ability to read and create logic diagrams and control narratives.
  • Knowledge of technical design techniques, tools, and principles.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel and Access.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Teamwork experience.
  • Strong work habits and a resourceful attitude.
  • This role is located in Fort Worth, TX, with occasional travel.
Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience
  • PE License (preferred).
  • Experience with DCS, TCS, and PLC programming.
  • Experience in fieldwork, such as system upgrades, commissioning, and start-up.
