Job summary

Targa Resources in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to specify and evaluate electrical equipment for operations and major projects, and to prepare bids and technical evaluations.

The role requires 3+ years of related experience in power systems, motor control, and protective relaying, plus familiarity with SKM/ETAP for power studies and arc flash calculations. Travel up to 40% and compliance with NFPA/NEC/API standards are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of related experience and/or training.
• Experience with power system design, distribution equipment and protective relaying.
• Experience with design/troubleshooting of electric motors, motor starters, protection relays, and VFDs.
• Experience using electrical modeling programs (SKM, ETAP) for power studies, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of preventive/predictive maintenance concepts for electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, API electrical standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication; interface with technical and managerial staff.

Responsibilities

• Specify, evaluate and select electrical equipment for operations and major projects.
• Prepare technical bids and proposal evaluations.
• Analyze electrical system designs including power generation, interties, distribution, motor control, and protection.
• Provide technical reports, studies and NEC interpretations.
• Prepare short circuit, motor starting, voltage drop, load shedding and relay coordination studies.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and safety requirements.
• Develop electrical specifications and area classification drawings.
• Investigate energy conservation opportunities.
• Direct outside engineering contractors' designs and reviews.
• Prepare budget estimates and technical scopes of work.
• Participate in technical conferences and present when requested.
