Job summary

Glumac, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to design and implement control systems across semiconductor, EV, data center, and building automation projects.

You will develop documentation, support PLC/SCADA, select instruments, and participate in field verification and commissioning activities. Hybrid work requires two in-office days per week in Austin, TX; US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum 3 years of instrumentation and controls design experience.
• EIT certification and pursuit of PE licensure.
• Experience developing P&IDs, sequences of operation, instrument indexes, wiring diagrams, and related control system documents.
• Experience with PLC and SCADA system design.
• Willingness to travel to project sites for field verification, client meetings, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• US work authorization; not sponsor eligible.

Responsibilities

• Develop control system design deliverables (P&IDs, sequences of operation, instrument indexes, wiring diagrams).

• Size and select instruments and valves based on process conditions and installation requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers, clients, vendors, and construction teams to resolve design challenges.

• Review designs for accuracy, constructability, functionality, and alignment with project requirements.
• Contribute to project delivery from early design through implementation and closeout.

The Opportunity:

Join Glumac as an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer and contribute to the design of control systems that support complex projects from initial planning through commissioning. In this role, you'll work with engineers, clients, vendors, and field teams to develop practical, reliable solutions within the Advanced Tech group on semiconductor, electric vehicle, data center, and building automation projects.

Position Summary:

As an I&C Engineer, you'll develop control system documentation, support PLC and SCADA design, select instrumentation and valves, and participate in field verification and commissioning activities. The role offers the opportunity to work across project phases while developing expertise in instrumentation and controls.

Essential Job Functions:

Required Qualifications:

• BS Degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of instrumentation and controls design experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and pursuit of Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• Experience developing P&IDs, sequences of operation, instrument indexes, wiring diagrams, and related control system documents.
• Experience with PLC and SCADA system design.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites for field verification, client meetings, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position is not eligible for current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience supporting projects through commissioning and start-up.
• Experience coordinating with clients, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Experience translating field conditions and project requirements into design documents.
• Experience with a variety of industrial or building control applications.
• Experience working with multiple PLC/SCADA manufacturers and communication protocols.

Work Environment and Location:

This position offers a hybrid work environment, with a requirement of two in-office days per week in our Austin, TX office. All candidates must be located in and eligible to work in the U.S.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $90,000-$120,000

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the compensation scale for this role. Actual salaries will be determined based on location, experience, responsibilities, and qualifications. This salary range is just one component of Glumac's total compensation package, which includes benefits, professional development opportunities, and additional incentives.
