Job summary

Jedson Engineering in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Lead to guide and manage project scope, work with clients to understand needs, and direct engineering deliverables. You will develop scope, create schematics and wiring docs, design control panels, size instrumentation, and prepare datasheets while coordinating with the team to meet schedule and budget.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Electrical/Mechanical Eng, Rockwell/AB programming, 6–15 years in EPC or engineering

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley programming.
• Experience on major capital projects from study through startup.

Responsibilities

• Manage discipline aspects of projects from inception through execution.
• Develop and document the scope of work.
• Create and update schematics, termination drawings, or loop sheets for instrument wiring.
• Design custom control panels to meet project needs.
• Size and specify instrumentation including transmitters, meters, valves and actuators.
• Create datasheets and coordinate quotes with vendors.
• Coordinate with engineering team to select devices.
• Ensure client expectations are met and project success criteria.
• Develop and track project costs and communicate scope changes.
• Coordinate and supervise project implementation, monitor progress and quality.
• PLC & HMI programming.

Controls & Instrumentation Lead

What You’ll Be Doing

We’re looking for an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Lead to help lead and manage a project scope. This role will work directly with the clients to understand the project needs and help manage and direct the execution of the engineering deliverables.

• Manage discipline aspects of projects from inception through execution
• Develop and document the scope of work
• Create and update schematics, termination drawings, or loop sheets for instrument wiring
• Design custom control panels to meet the project need
• Size and specify instrumentation including pressure and temperature transmitters, flow meters, modulating control valves, regulators, on/off valves, and actuators
• Create datasheets and work with vendors to get quotes for instrumentation and valves for various applications
• Coordinate with engineering team to select the appropriate devices
• Understand project success criteria and ensure client expectations are met
• Develop and track project costs
• Identify, document, and communicate changes to scope
• Identify and effectively respond to clients issues and needs
• Ensure value is provided to the client and develop & earn their trust
• Review and manage all project deliverables
• Coordinate and supervise project implementation, control project costs, monitor progress and quality of the project
• PLC & HMI Programming

• B.S. degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley programming.
• 6-15 years of related experience in project engineering, including EPC or engineering firm experience
• Experienced Controls engineer on major capital projects from the study phase, detailed design, construction support, check out and start-up.
• Oversees project execution to ensure completion and client satisfaction
• Demonstrated experience in driving projects within budget from initiation through a successful and timely conclusion
• Knowledge of front-end engineering and detailed engineering process
• Strong interpersonal skills to build and foster positive client relationships
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
