The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for an Instrumentation Control Technician in the Water Resources Department. The town employs over 340 full-time staff across police, fire, electric utilities, and offers various part-time positions in Parks & Rec, Library, and Cultural Arts.

Performs technical work in maintaining, repairing, installing, and replacing electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems related to water and wastewater treatment facilities. Employee is on-call and may be subject to callback work.

1. Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical and electronic systems, including telemetry, control systems (PLCs), conduit installation, and oversees contracted installations.
2. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on generators, pumps, valves, and SCADA systems, including troubleshooting and repairs.
3. Conducts permit-required confined space entries for various equipment repairs.
4. Plans and participates in preventive and predictive maintenance inspections, calibrations, and adjustments.
5. Maintains records of work activities, reviews plans and specifications, and manages inventory and procurement of parts and services.
6. Fabricates and installs SCADA controllers, metering equipment, phone systems, and PLC software; operates heavy machinery and welding equipment as needed.
7. Maintains safety standards, reviews work orders, and performs related duties as required.

**Qualifications:**

• Knowledge of electronic circuits, hardware/software troubleshooting, process instrumentation, and telemetry.
• Understanding of electrical principles as applied to water and sewer systems.
• Mechanical maintenance skills and general trades knowledge.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and follow instructions.
• Effective communication and record-keeping skills.

**Education:**

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Licenses: Collections 2; Grade 2 Maintenance Tech. required.
• Vocational/Technical or Associate Degree in Electrical or Electronics preferred.

**Experience:**

• Minimum two years in maintenance and repair of water or wastewater treatment equipment, including electronic repair.
