Job description

Position

Georgia‑Pacific is hiring an Instrumentation Associate I at its Clatskanie, OR facility. This role is part of a two‑year apprenticeship program. Upon completion, you will be eligible for an Oregon LEB Electrical License and advance to the Journeyman Instrument rate.

Starting pay: $45.63 per hour, with potential progression to $57.59 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance inspections using diagnostic tools and test equipment under the supervision of a journeyman.
  • Write work orders, record maintenance results, and read and update drawings and other documentation.
  • Calibrate, configure, install, and troubleshoot transmitters, actuators, valves, positioners, meters, testers, and other instrumentation and controls under supervision.
  • Facilitate and assist in root‑cause analysis of premature failures, propose solutions, and implement corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting skills to ensure equipment operates as designed per OEM specifications.
  • Adhere to plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participate in the mill safety program.
  • Practice the MBM guiding principles to create continuous transformation and positive growth.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with computers.
  • A related technical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or certification in engineering, electrical/mechanical systems, paper manufacturing, or reliability.
  • Experience in work order planning, BOM updates and development in SAP.
  • 2+ years in the pulp and paper industry.
  • 1+ year in maintenance or reliability.
  • Experience with basic mechanical maintenance and/or machine troubleshooting.
