Odessa College is seeking an Instrumentation and Electronics Technology Adjunct to teach FACE-TO-FACE courses during evenings and weekends, contributing to the ongoing success of the School of Business and Industry. You will develop and deliver coursework, maintain current knowledge, provide clear syllabi and assessments, and support student learning in traditional or distance formats as needed.

  • Associate Degree and relevant technical training, certification, or experience in the discipline.
  • Valid state issued electrical licensure or professional technical experience directly related to course topic.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and teaches classes in various aspects of Instrumentation & Electronics Technology.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
  • Teaches courses, adjusts schedules, locations, and delivery methods as needed by the College.
  • Provides students with syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, and graded evaluations.
  • Administers tests, including a comprehensive final exam measuring course objectives.
  • Creates a constructive learning climate supporting academic honesty and student growth.
  • Prepares for class, attends labs and instructional activities, and communicates with students through office hours and email.

General Summary

Develops and teaches classes in various aspects of Instrumentation & Electronics Technology.

Specific Position Duties
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various courses, schedules, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the College.
  • Utilizes appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners.
  • Provides students with written expectations, including syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, and other course materials.
  • Administers tests that are appropriate to course content, including a comprehensive final exam measuring students’ overall grasp of course objectives.
  • Through various instructional methods, affirms the worth and dignity of all persons and the right of all persons to learn.
  • Maintains an appropriate learning and assessment climate in the classroom, whether traditional, online, or distance learning, that encourages the free exchange of ideas while upholding academic honesty and objectivity.
  • Prepares adequately for class and arrives promptly at class meetings, labs, and any other scheduled instructional activities.
  • Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Addresses student concerns, including comments, questions, and input, both in class and via posted office hours, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means.
  • Effectively handles routine procedures necessary for the successful day-to-day operation of the department, as delegated by the department chair.
