Instrumentation and Electronics Technician – Waco, TX

This is a full-time, direct hire position available immediately at a new manufacturing plant in Waco, Texas. Our client is a global leader in manufacturing, expanding with new plants worldwide. The Waco location spans 65 acres with a 450,000 sq ft facility featuring advanced technology and machinery.

Position Summary

The Technician is responsible for maintaining the safe, reliable operation of the manufacturing control and electrical systems, including power systems, instrumentation, motor controls, PLC, HMI, data systems, and network infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions
  • Support machine installations and upgrades, interfacing auxiliary equipment and ensuring vendor compliance.
  • Maintain and repair electronic instrumentation and equipment for service quality.
  • Setup and maintain electronics, instruments, automation, and measurement equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electronic and data acquisition equipment, replacing faulty components.
  • Calibrate pressure gauges and measurement devices.
  • Perform programming and troubleshooting on computers and data acquisition equipment.
  • Program and troubleshoot automated control equipment, calibrate safety devices, and operate facility valves.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using technical drawings and diagnostic tools.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and blueprints.
  • Wire electrical panels and recommend system improvements.
  • Make program modifications to improve equipment performance.
  • Perform field calibrations and test sensors and instrumentation.
  • Work effectively in a team, record data, communicate across departments, and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in safety programs, maintain records, and assist in emergency responses.
  • Train co-workers and maintain a tidy, compliant work environment.
Qualifications
  • Required: Two-year technical degree or equivalent, or six years of relevant control/electrical experience.
  • Minimum three years' experience with instrument systems, control valves, and motor controls.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, servos, Ethernet, and wireless systems.
  • Proficient with testing tools, schematics, and electrical codes.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and a self-starter attitude.
  • Willingness to travel for training and vendor meetings.
Software and Computer Skills
  • Basic hardware/software knowledge, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace.
  • Data acquisition hardware and interfacing knowledge.
Environmental & Physical Factors

Work primarily in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to weather, chemicals, hazards, and physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, and manual dexterity. Safety equipment required.

Hours / Conditions

12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, with flexibility for long days, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Attendance is essential.
