Job summary

Ludvik Electric Co. is seeking an Instrumentation and Control Technician for our Arizona location in Phoenix. The role supports control system startups, testing, and field terminations on diverse electrical projects.

You will review requirements, calibrate instruments with vendor reps, develop startup procedures, and coordinate with programmers. A strong background in control systems and plumbing knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years of electrical journeyman experience required.
  • 5 years of control systems experience or a bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology.
  • Experience with water and wastewater systems and processes preferred.
  • Familiarity with plant operations, instrumentation and control systems, and software used in municipal facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review project requirements for control systems, diagrams, submittals, and equipment information.
  • Assist during equipment startup, calibration, and testing with manufacturer representatives when requested.
  • Support instrumentation and control system testing and startup with field supervision.
  • Develop point-to-point sheets for terminations and sign-off.
  • Create system startup and testing procedures for use by others.
  • Troubleshoot systems and review control panels, PLCs, and wiring documentation.
  • Coordinate schematics and diagrams with vendors and programmers.
  • Support installation and termination of low voltage power and controls.
  • Coordinate crew activities and maintain documentation.

Instrumentation and Control Technician
We are seeking experienced Instrumentation and Control Technician for our Arizona Location. Arizona continues to grow and the number of electrical projects we are winning is exploding; our backlog of projects will keep us busy for years!

Role and Accountabilities : The following are intended to be examples of the accountabilities for which the person in this position is responsible. This description is not intended to be complete or all-inclusive and does not preclude management from assigning other or related functions if such functions are a logical assignment for the position.

  • Reviews project requirements for control systems and automated processes systems, including, but not limited to, specifications, drawings (control schematics, circuit diagrams, process and instrumentation, single lines, etc.), submittals, and existing equipment information (i.e. submittals, operations and maintenance manuals, manufacturers literature, etc).
  • During equipment startup, if requested, accompanies, and assists the manufacturer’s representative while calibrating, testing, and the startup of instruments and associated equipment.
  • Assists Ludvik Field Supervision and Management during instrumentation and control systems testing and startup.
  • Develops Point-To-Point Sheets for use by others in terminations and sign-off.
  • Develops System Startup and Testing Procedures for use by others.
  • Troubleshoots.
  • Reviews process control panels, PLCs, and Instrumentation and preparation of wire termination and test documentation.
  • Coordinates contract schematics, process and instrumentation diagrams, and control descriptions with vendors, suppliers, and programmers.
  • Conducts low voltage power and controls field terminations, when requested.
  • Coordinates crew activities, as required and maintains records and files.
  • Assists with the installation of control and measurement instruments and equipment, when requested.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • At least 3-4 years of electrical Journeyman work experience.
  • 5 Years Control Systems experience or bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology.
  • Experience in Water and Wastewater Systems and Processes
  • Familiarity with plant operations, instrumentation and control systems, and computer programs required to operate municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities are important.
  • Strong ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and work under deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
