Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in Chapel Hill seeks an Instrumentation and Controls Project Engineer to join a collaborative, high-performance engineering team.

You will contribute to design, integration, and startup activities for complex utility and process projects, leveraging your control systems expertise and client-facing skills. The successful candidate will hold a BSME or BSEE, have 5+ years in consulting engineering, and hold a PE license.

Expertise of our most successful Instrumentation and Controls Project Engineers
  • BSME or BSEE (or other engineering discipline with applicable experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in the consulting engineering industry.
  • Experience with communicating with clients, partners and individuals at all levels within an organization.
Effective skills to help you flourish
  • Experience in consulting engineering in utility plant design.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) in one or more states.
  • Detailed, hands-on knowledge of PLC or DCS control systems.
  • Experience with industrial networks and communication protocols.
  • Ability to travel for client meetings, field survey, commissioning, and startup support.
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Quick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively individually and within team environments.
