Job description
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer to join our Engineering Management Office (EMO). This role focuses on governance, standardization, and optimization of engineering design execution across projects in North America. The engineer will provide subject matter expertise, drive consistency in processes, facilitate training and reviews, and collaborate with business units to ensure projects align with organizational standards. This is not a design or specification development role, but a leadership position in harmonizing engineering governance and execution.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain engineering governance documents (procedures, standards, templates, guides) to standardize project execution.
  • Lead reviews, training sessions, and workshops to promote awareness and adoption of governance processes across business units.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, optimize processes, and align project execution with fit-for-purpose governance.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in instrumentation and control systems, with additional support in electrical engineering governance as needed.
  • Support asset management initiatives, including taxonomy development and item master library sustainment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, procurement, contracts, quality, construction, and commissioning.
  • Participate in project health checks and stage gate reviews to ensure compliance with governance standards.
  • Mentor peers, facilitate decision-making in stakeholder sessions, and represent EMO at business initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical, or related field).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the oil & gas industry; exposure to renewables is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, and engineering deliverables.
  • Experience with asset management, control system specification/selection, FATs, commissioning support, and procurement.
  • Familiarity with electrical-instrumentation-control systems (EIC) interfaces, an asset.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and project data management systems (e.g., Kahua).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
