Location: Jackson, MI (local candidate required - $550 weekly per diem provided for non local candidate)

The Instrumentation and Controls Division of the High Voltage Distribution (HVD) Engineering department delivers comprehensive, multi-discipline engineering design and leadership for high-voltage electric distribution projects associated with company-owned and operated substations throughout Michigan's Lower Peninsula.

The team is responsible for both in-house and consultant-led designs, supporting new substation construction as well as upgrades, repairs, and modifications to existing facilities.

Key areas of focus include I&C Designs (schematics, wiring, etc), project scoping, AC and DC load studies, procurement and construction support, and overall project execution. This position supports capital projects across the service territory.

Responsibilities

• Support the work with consulting projects
• Creating and maintaining scope of work documents (SOW)
• Creating requests for quotations (RFQs) and purchase requisitions (PRs) for consultated engineering services
• Establishing project milestones (e.g. 30/60/90 reviews)
• Review and processing invoices
• Supporting technical reviews of the I&C designs
• Supporting RFIs throughout projects, leading and participating in meetings with consultants to ensure targets are maintained, maintaining and improving KPIs including quality and schedule.

Skills

• Relevant experience, as well as proficiency in basic computer programs such as the Microsoft Office suite.
• Technical engineers should also have excellent analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team setting with other engineers and related colleagues.
