Job summary

Olin Chemicals is seeking an Instrument Technician to troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems, calibrate and install equipment, and maintain measurement instruments such as temperature, level, pressure, pH, and flow. The role involves safety meetings, following procedures, and working with pneumatic systems while supporting continuous plant reliability.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Journeylevel Instrumentation Technician with minimum 5 years of instrumentation work experience (industrial setting preferred)
  • Ability to work call-ins and overtime when needed.
  • Ability to pass a functional physical and drug screen, and background check if offered a job.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots, improves, repairs malfunctions, and documents failure analysis of Instrument equipment
  • Sets up and calibrates, tests, measures, and repairs all types of electrical controls, instruments, and electronic variables
  • Actively participates in the implementation of the Maintenance Work Process for I&E work
  • Assists PPM Coordinator and ME role in defining appropriate electrical spare parts needed
  • Updates and follows daily maintenance schedule
  • Maintains accurate records including calibrations, drawings, schematics, and P&IDs
  • Supports Root Cause Failure Analysis for I&E components

Job description

Title: Instrument TechnicianLocation: McIntosh, ALSalary: $45.49/hourRelocation Assistance ProvidedFocus: Instrument Technicians troubleshoot equipment instrumentation, control systems (DCS/PLC/MLC) and ladder logic. Instrument Technicians receive very little descriptive information concerning the production problem and learn to calibrate, install and maintain a variety of instruments used to measure temperature, level, pressure, pH, conductivity and flow. They will install & maintain pneumatic systems; monitor specific equipment; and may monitor and replace control valves. Instrument Technicians participate in safety meetings and training activities and follow established safety and operating procedures and practices.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalentJourneylevel Instrumentation Technician with minimum 5 years of instrumentation work experience (industrial setting preferred)Able to demonstrate basic computer skills, math and problem-solving; mechanical, numerical and verbal aptitude to learn our jobs quicklyMust be able to work call-ins and overtime when support is neededAble to pass a functional physical testing and able to use standard safety equipment; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Able to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights.Able to work in tight or closed-in spacesPass a physical, drug screen and background check if job offer is received and accepted.Must possess a valid US Driver's License and be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
