Job summary

Topographic, Inc. in Wyoming is seeking an Instrument Technician to work in the field on control, topographic, boundary, and other surveys as part of a two- to three-person crew at various sites.

Responsibilities include reading plans, performing measurements, locating monuments, and setting grades while maintaining safety and delivering reliable data. Occasional travel to worksites and adherence to company policies are required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Instrument Technician must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Will work primarily in the field on control, topographic, boundary, and all other surveys as Instrument Technician of a two or three-person field crew at an assigned worksite.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Employees, Managers, and Supervisors throughout the corporation, and various external customers, vendors, consultants, and governmental regulatory officials.

MAJOR TASKS

  • Cut and remove brush and undergrowth for line-of-sight.
  • Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Know basic sources of measurement errors.
  • Dig ground using a pick, shovel, and other hand tools to search for and locate survey monuments.
  • Hold and plum rod in obtaining elevations and distances.
  • Drive stakes to set grades on construction projects.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Know, understand, and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment.

STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE

Topographic field hours are Mon-Sat 7:00 am to 5:00 pm; other hours and days may be necessary to meet the objectives of the position. The specific schedule for this role will be based on location and department.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Travel

Travel to worksites may be required.
