Job summary

Topographic, Inc. is seeking an Instrument Technician to perform essential field survey tasks in support of control, topographic, boundary, and related surveys.

You will work as part of a two- or three-person field crew at assigned worksites, reading plans, locating monuments, and helping set grades for construction projects. The role requires operating surveying instruments and calculators accurately, following safety practices, and traveling to various worksites as needed, with potential for

Job description

The Instrument Technician must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Will work primarily in the field on control, topographic, boundary, and all other surveys as Instrument Technician of a two or three-person field crew at an assigned worksite.

Employees, Managers, and Supervisors throughout the corporation, and various external customers, vendors, consultants, and governmental regulatory officials.

MAJOR TASKS

  • Cut and remove brush and undergrowth for line-of-sight.
  • Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data.
  • Read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Know basic sources of measurement errors.
  • Dig ground using a pick, shovel, and other hand tools to search for and locate survey monuments.
  • Hold and plum rod in obtaining elevations and distances.
  • Drive stakes to set grades on construction projects.
  • Know, understand, and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment.

STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE

Topographic field hours are Mon-Sat 7:00 am to 5:00 pm; other hours and days may be necessary to meet the objectives of the position.

The specific schedule for this role will be based on location and department.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Travel

Travel to worksites may be required.
