Qualifications

  • Industrial instrumentation and controls experience in a chemical processing environment.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and process schematics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience using a CMMS system (SAP preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Review manuals, diagrams, P&IDs, and blueprints to determine testing and maintenance procedures.
  • Inspect and test instruments and control systems using pneumatic, electrical, and electronic equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in valves, sensors, transmitters, final control elements, DCS systems, and PLCs.
  • Remove and replace defective components as needed.
  • Calibrate instrumentation and control devices per manufacturer specs.
  • Maintain maintenance records and documentation in CMMS (SAP preferred).
  • Install control and measurement instruments on existing and new equipment.
  • Collaborate with operators and engineering to troubleshoot process issues.
  • Support plant uptime and continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintenance Instrument Technician
Position Overview

The Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing instrumentation and control systems used to measure and regulate flow, level, pressure, temperature, chemical composition, and other process variables in a chemical manufacturing environment.

This role plays a critical part in plant reliability, process stability, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review manufacturer manuals, circuit diagrams, P&IDs, and blueprints to determine appropriate testing and maintenance procedures
  • Inspect and test instruments and control systems using pneumatic, electrical, and electronic testing equipment
  • Diagnose and repair faults in control valves, sensors, transmitters, final control elements, DCS systems, and PLCs
  • Remove and replace defective components as needed
  • Calibrate instrumentation and control devices according to manufacturer specifications
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and complete maintenance documentation and reports
  • Install control and measurement instruments on existing and new equipment
  • Partner with process operators and engineering to troubleshoot process and system issues
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records within CMMS (SAP experience preferred)
  • Support plant uptime and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Industrial instrumentation and controls experience in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with pneumatic and electronic systems
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and process schematics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience using a CMMS system (SAP preferred)
  • Ability to work extended hours (over 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week) as operational needs require
