Job summary

Summa Health System in Barberton is seeking a dedicated team member to support sterile processing. The role focuses on decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instruments with strict infection control practices.

Applicants should have high school coursework, English literacy, and either CRCST/HSPA certification or related experience. The position involves standing for extended periods and working with healthcare teams to ensure safe patient care.

Qualifications

• High school level coursework in English grammar and basic mathematics.
• Ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions.
• Current HSPA or CRCST Certification or minimum 1 year experience with knowledge of cleaning, disinfection and sterilization techniques.
• Ability to work well within a team environment: accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback; supporting team goals by collaborating with patient care team members to consolidate work, solve problems, create new methods, and/or reduce costs.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, frequent pushing, pulling, and cleaning equipment and materials.
• Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology for surgical applications.
• Operate all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely.
• Knowledge of applicable sanitary, infection control and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Summary

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal Education Required:
• High school level course work in English grammar and basic mathematic
• Ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions
• Experience and Training Required:
• Current HSPA or CRCST Certification or minimum 1year experience with knowledge of cleaning, disinfection and sterilization techniques and be able to obtain certification within six months of hire date.

• Ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure.

• Knowledge of applicable sanitary, infection control and safety standards.
• Level of Physical Demands:
• Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
• Physical working environment may include, but not limited to, any of the following hazards: high pressure steam, chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste.
• Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, blood & body fluids, multi-stimuli, etc.
