Job summary

General Motors LLC in Warren, MI is seeking an experienced engineer to help electrify the instrument panel and cockpit. This hybrid role requires on-site work at the Warren Tech Center three days a week and collaboration across design, CAE, manufacturing, and purchasing teams.

You will lead the design, development, analysis, and validation of complex instrument panel subsystems, drive cost optimization, and mentor junior engineers while aligning with DFMEA/DRBFM practices and program milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• Comfortable leading multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams and coaching other DREs.
• Ability to deal optimally with ambiguity and forward-thinking environment.
• Capacity to lead complex projects, provide accurate time estimates, and allocate resources efficiently.
• Within 1 year upon hire: Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Greenbelt certification.
• Within 2 years upon hire: Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Blackbelt certification

Responsibilities

• Design, development, analysis, implementation and validation of the instrument panel and console subsystems.
• Package components and manage CAD development through supplier or GM designers and collaborate with other vehicle systems.
• Lead Peer Reviews and work cross-functionally to support vehicle configuration, cost optimization and product/process improvements.
• Apply benchmarking for design direction and stay updated on new technology and competitive products.
• Lead the development of Statements of Requirements (SOR) and develop work statements with key partners.
