Job summary

Albemarle is hiring for an Instrument Mechanic 1/C in Pasadena, Texas. This in-office role focuses on installing, inspecting, calibrating, and repairing instrumentation and electrical components across critical process systems.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting transmitters, valves, flow meters, scales, and gas detectors, with emphasis on safety and reliability. Requires 5+ years in instrumentation, 2 years in electrical work, and NCCER instrumentation certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NCCER certification in Industrial Instrumentation required.
• Minimum 5 years in industrial instrumentation and 2 years in industrial electrical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair pneumatic, electronic, and instrumentation equipment in a petrochemical environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute and document inspections of critical, environmental, quality, and maintenance instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot, calibrate, maintain, and repair field devices such as transmitters, control valves, flow meters, and temperature elements.
• Maintain and repair electrical systems including motor starters, breakers, lighting, and combustible gas detectors.
• Inspect, adjust, and repair weight scales used for process verification.
• Diagnose and resolve complex process issues related to control and measurement systems.
• Support operations with troubleshooting and continuous improvement of process reliability.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on pneumatic, electronic, and analytical instrumentation systems.

What you will do

What you bring

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• NCCER certification in Industrial Instrumentation
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial instrumentation and 2 years in industrial electrical systems
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair pneumatic, electronic, and instrumentation equipment in a petrochemical environment
• Ability to follow direction, prioritize work, collaborate with operations, and cross-train in electrical duties

It'd be great if you also have:

• Associate of Science degree in Industrial Instrumentation
• 10+ years of experience in an industrial plant and 5+ years in industrial electrical systems
• Proficiency in computer software (Microsoft Office, Workday, SharePoint, Adobe, etc.)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across plant teams
• Experience with DCS/PLC troubleshooting, calibration, and installation of control systems and measurement devices
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Experience operating mobile equipment and using advanced test equipment
