Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Ogden, UT, is seeking an Instrument Mechanic to install, repair, calibrate and maintain plant process control equipment. This on-site role reports to the Senior Technical Services Manager and requires 5+ years of instrumentation experience and a trade school diploma.

The position offers an hourly wage of $34.72–$46.43 with a $5,000 sign-on bonus, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for flexible work arrangements. You will work 100% onsite in Ogden, UT.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Five (5) years of instrumentation and control experience, including at least three (3) years in a similar industrial environment.
  • Diploma or education from a trade/technical school in industrial instrumentation maintenance may qualify.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment and thermoelectric elements.
  • Calibrate temperature and pressure elements to standards, keeping calibration records.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance records and test records.
  • Rebuild and install valves and flow devices.
  • Coordinate area activities with the central maintenance shop.
  • Work with engineering and quality for material qualification and testing.
  • Use a range of instruments and sensors in chemical processing equipment.

As an Instrument Mechanic, you will install, repair, calibrate and maintain plant chemical process control equipment, heat treatment furnaces, and other electronic equipment. You will report to the Senior Technical Services Manager and be located in Ogden, UT, working 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive oral and written instructions from supervisor.
  • Install, troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment and thermoelectric elements, pressure, flow, gas chromatograph, and pH instruments and elements.
  • Calibrate temperature and pressure elements to National Institute of Standards and Technology, including maintaining physical records of calibration.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance records and other test records.
  • Maintain a library of calibration manuals.
  • Rebuild and install valves, valve positioners, and other flow devices.
  • Work with engineering and quality for material qualification and testing, and participate in customer audits.
  • Use electronic pneumatic test equipment and small hand tools, including valves, pH, conductivity, flow analyzers, pressure devices, regulators, recorders, controllers, and thermal elements.
  • Coordinate area activities with the central maintenance shop.
  • Use wire, pneumatic tubing, fittings, valves, controllers, sensors, process equipment containing acids and chemicals, and programmable logic controllers.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Five (5) years of instrumentation and control experience, including at least three (3) years in a similar industrial environment.
  • Diploma or applicable education from a trade or technical school in industrial instrumentation maintenance may qualify for part of the experience requirement.
Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $34.72 to $46.43 per hour. A $5,000 sign‑on bonus is offered for well‑qualified candidates.
