Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking an Instrument Equipment Technician to support infection control and sterilization of surgical instruments and OR equipment. The role focuses on cleaning, sterilizing, decontaminating, assembling, and storing instruments, while adhering to safety and sanitation standards within a hospital setting.

You will ensure equipment readiness across departments and assist with maintenance and repairs, supporting a clean, safe patient care environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent with related experience considered.
• 2 years of work experience in equipment sterilization or Instrument/Operating Room Aide/Tech preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies: clean, sterilize, and store properly.
• Operate sterilization equipment, decontaminate, assemble and wrap instruments and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital infection control and safety policies.
• Assess equipment and instruments needed for departments and ensure supplies are available and working.

Your Everyday

• Identify surgical instrumentation, equipment, and supplies: clean, sterilize, and store properly.
• Demonstrate knowledge of applicable sanitary, infection control, and safety standards to perform all assignments within the safety parameters.
• Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique, decontamination methods, sterilization process, testing and equipment.
• Operate sterilization equipment, decontaminate, assemble and wrap appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital established policies, quality assurance, safety and infection control policies and practices.
• Assess appropriate equipment and instruments needed for all departments and ensure all supplies are available and in working condition.
• Replace or repair instruments or equipment that are not working.
• Follow proper standard precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
• Process endoscopes, scopes and/or probes.

The Must-Haves

Minimum

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience in equipment sterilization or Instrument or Operating Room Aide or Tech

Preferred

• Prior experience highly preferred
