GE Vernova International LLC is seeking an Instrumentation Engineering Specialist to lead calibration, build, diagnostic, repair and related operational activities for precision instrumentation used in Thermal Performance Testing.   • Associate or BS in engineering or instrumentation preferred with calibration experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience in calibration for thermal performance testing.
  • Familiar with calibration procedures and testing specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Test and calibrate instruments such as pressure transmitters, thermocouples, RTD’s, and temperature controls.
  • Maintain quality documentation and adhere to testing specifications.
  • Install accessories and connect devices to lab standards; set controls for calibration tests.
  • Observe readings and adjust calibration mechanisms to meet performance specs.
  • Identify defects and lead root-cause investigations with Lab leaders.
  • Support lab operations, inventory, and Kanban for consumables and equipment.
  • Provide hands-on support for thermal performance testing of gas turbines.
  • Ensure data quality from power plant tests for commercial and internal use.

Job Description Summary

Job Description Summary The Instrumentation Engineering Specialist leads the calibration, build, diagnostic, repair & associated operational activities for precision instrumentation used for Thermal Performance Testing and supports field testing/data collection from customers' power plants for both commercial and internal purposes.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Test and calibration of controlling, indicating and measuring instruments and devices, such as pressure transmitters, temperature controls, Thermocouples, RTD’s, thermometers and power load measurement devices.
  • Responsible for all process and Quality documentation SME area(s) and proficient with quality control manual and testing specifications to obtain data to test or calibrate specific devices.
  • Selects and installs accessories such as adapters, indicating gauges, or holding devices on test or calibration fixture, and connects the instrument or device to a lab primary standard.
  • Sets controls to regulate factors such as current flow, timing cycle, pressure, temperature or vacuum according to specifications and activates test of calibration equipment.
  • Observes reading on meters and gauges and other displays and performance of device or instrument to identify functional defects and determine calibration requirements & Adjusts calibration mechanisms to obtain specified operational performance of device or instrument.
  • Identify defective instrumentation and lead root cause investigation and implementation of CAPA through engagement with Lab leaders.
  • Responsible to support all Lab operational processes across instrumentation returns, maintenance, prepping, packing, items to inventory (Kanban), Kanban level maintenance for consumables/misc. equipment and Lab 5S activities.
  • Provide hands on support for thermal performance testing of gas turbines.
  • Accountable for the quality of the data collected from customers' power plants for both commercial and internal purposes.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate or BS Engineering, Instrumentation Degree, Military Calibration or Minimum of 2 years of industry experience and familiarity calibration/used for thermal performance testing and evaluation.
  • Eligibility Requirements Ability to work overtime (including weekends) Willingness and ability to travel (approximately 20%) to mainly domestic power plant sites in support of testing. The duration of the field tests ranges from one (1) to (3) weeks/1-2 jobs per year.
Desired Qualifications
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical skills with familiarity with mA and mV measurements.
  • Understanding of instrumentation principles, their physics principles, calibration, installation requirements, operation, communications, and troubleshooting.
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute calibration Instrumentation training in: Control systems, industrial environments, calibration facilities and processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor electrical repairs on instrumentation.
