Job summary

PegasusTSI, Inc. in Tampa, FL, seeks an Instrument & Controls System Designer to work with Lead designers and cross-discipline teams. You will deliver complete I&C drawings and BOMs, ensuring safety, operability and code-conformance.

The role requires 5–10 years in I&C design for chemical/process industries, proficiency in MicroStation/AutoCAD, and strong communication skills. Hybrid work is available with onsite presence in Tampa.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in I&C design for refining, pharma, petrochemical, or specialty chemical projects.
• Higher Education preferred.
• Proficient in MicroStation and AutoCAD; knowledge of INtools is a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office and Google Workspace.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Develops, designs and checks control panels, layouts, junction boxes, wiring, loops and logic diagrams, and BOMs.
• Uses CAD tools to prepare layout and design drawings.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and company procedures.
• Create and evaluate alternate design layouts as needed.
• Review supplier data and perform checks on instrument deliverables.
• Assess constructability, operability and safety in design; ensure adherence to I&C design guides.

We have an excellent opportunity for an Instrument & Controls System Designer to work closely with Lead designers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems. This position will produce complete Instrument & Control System drawings with associated bill of materials.

Responsibilities

• Develops, designs and checks control panels; control room layout, location plan drawings; junction box layout & loading; wiring connection; loop and logic diagrams; material take-off; cable schedules; installation details and supports; maintaining instrument index; vendor document review
• Utilizes CAD to prepare layout and design drawings using practical design knowledge
• Interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures
• Meets layout requirements and develop alternate design layouts of systems as required
• Reviews and comment on supplier data as required
• Performs checking of all instrument deliverables as appropriate to the discipline to ensure they clearly depict the design
• Reviews constructability, operability and safety in design
• Checks compliance with I&C design guides, standards, specifications and procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of industry experience in I&C design with experience in refining, pharmaceutical, petrochemical and specialty chemical projects
• Higher Education preferred
• Proficient in MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Proficient with technical software applications, including MS Office and Google Workspace
• Working knowledge of INTERGRAPH Smart Plant Instrumentation INtools package a plus
• Ability and willingness to learn new software
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship

Additional Information

This position is based in Tampa, Florida. While the company offers a hybrid work schedule, the role also requires the individual to be onsite in the office.
