Job Overview

The Control and Instrument Technician supports the engineering design and development of electrical control and automation systems and devices. This role involves hands-on setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical control systems and prototypes, as well as assisting in system and device testing.

Job Duties
  1. Support engineering teams in designing and developing electrical control systems and automation devices.
  2. Configure, troubleshoot, and repair prototypes and production systems.
  3. Assist in testing electrical systems, devices, and instruments following established procedures.
  4. Measure and record system performance, maintaining clear and accurate documentation.
  5. Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for testing and maintenance.
  6. Follow safety and quality standards to ensure reliable and compliant systems.
  7. Collaborate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and cross-functional teams to support project objectives.
Qualifications
  1. Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  2. Typically 2-4 years of hands-on experience in electrical control systems or automation.
  3. Ability to work independently or as part of a team within established guidelines.
  4. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  5. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and testing instruments.
  6. Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  7. Knowledge of PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron), VFDs, sensors, relays, and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
  8. Experience with robotics, motion control, SCADA, safety systems, LOTO procedures, or BMS is a plus.
  9. Willingness to work flexible hours or on-call as needed.
