Position Title: Instructor, Research Faculty Appointment

Department: Lymphoma/Myeloma

Division: Cancer Medicine

Reports to: Faculty PI

MISSION STATEMENT

Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees, and the public.

SUMMARY

The primary function of the Instructor position is to be an active member and leader of the research team, applying technical expertise to plan, coordinate, design, assist, and supervise research projects, as well as to evaluate and interpret research data and ensure high-quality publications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform research activities in a mentored leadership role within translational research of immunotherapies and vaccines, aiming for scientific independence.
  2. Possess expertise in clinical protocols, processing human and mouse samples, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, flow cytometry, tissue culture.
  3. Contribute to grant writing and submissions as principal or co-investigator under mentorship.
  4. Develop collaborative research projects to achieve scientific independence.
  5. Train research scientists, postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows, students, and technicians.
  6. Lead and collaborate within a large cancer research group including scientists, clinicians, statisticians, and staff.

Key Functions
  1. Enhance cancer research quality and progress, focusing on specified areas.
  2. Design and assist with experiments involving clinical samples, animal models, and in vitro studies.
  3. Create novel independent research projects.
  4. Maintain standard operating procedures to ensure quality and integrity.
  5. Plan, execute, and interpret experiments; lead research efforts and troubleshoot.
  6. Present research findings internally and at scientific conferences.
  7. Supervise and mentor trainees and lab members.
  8. Prepare manuscripts, grant proposals, and collaborate on publications and presentations.
  9. Review literature, design experiments, and report progress regularly.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position offers a target salary of $65,000 to $80,000, with eligibility for incentives, benefits, and relocation support as applicable.
